# Why Do I Forget English Words So Quickly?
Have you ever learned a new English word and forgotten it a few days later? You are not alone. The problem is often not your memory, but the way you learn vocabulary.
## Memorizing Is Not Learning
Memorizing a list of words is not enough. Instead, learn words in context. For example, don’t just memorize the word “avoid.” Learn it in a sentence:
“I try to avoid using my phone while studying.”
This helps you understand how the word is actually used.
## Repeat and Use New Words
Seeing a word once is rarely enough. Review it regularly and use it in speaking, writing, or conversations. The more you use a word, the easier it becomes to remember.
## Make It Personal
Create your own sentences with new vocabulary. Personal examples are easier to remember because they connect the word to your life.
